Armstrong on Policing

In response to recent press, prospective candidate for ECC (Dunmow) Alex Armstrong writes:

“Of course the Residents for Uttlesford prospective candidates know that our police service is not run by the District Council. However, we pay 10% of our council tax for the police and, regardless of who is in charge, residents are telling us the district needs a full local police presence.

The current Police and Crime Commissioner has closed every full function police station in Uttlesford – an area of 250 square miles with 85,000 residents – at the same time as increasing our police tax, collected by UDC, by £305,000. Instead of owning and resolving residents concerns, the present administration has now written to the papers to say policing is nothing to do with them!

Residents for Uttlesford have stood up for many local issues and as Essex County Councillors, if elected, we will fight to reinstate local police cover for our district.
