Sharon Morris is a strong advocate of families, and understands local issues surrounding people of all ages; she has three children, all who attend either infants, junior or nursery schools in Saffron Walden, and has elderly relatives who are resident within the town.
Prior to being a stay at home parent, Sharon commuted by train into London where she worked as an Insurance Underwriter and then as a Broker, insuring high class racehorses for international clients.
Locally she’s well connected within the Mums’ community. She was an active member of the local branch of the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) between 2006 and 2010. Her roles included Chair from 2007 to 2008, and production and distribution of the bi-monthly Newsletter and running a weekly Bumps and Babies drop-in group. She is currently part of a parents group seeking to improve play provision within the town.
On broader local issues she’s one of the volunteer members of the team working on delivering a strategic and long term plan for Saffron Walden via the Town Council’s Neighbourhood Plan initiative.
Sharon was elected to represent the Saffron Walden Audley Ward on both the District and Town Councils in 2015.
