Paul believes passionately in grass roots democracy and community enterprise.
He says “I believe that multi-party debate and collaboration are key to constructive engagement with the community. When party loyalties come before the interest of the residents then we have a break down and a loss of trust. Uttlesford needs a vision that should be driven not by entrenched party values but by the good of the community today and in the future. I believe that R4U can bring that vision to life.”
Paul was elected to represent the Saffron Walden Shire Ward on both District and Town Councils in 2015. He works tirelessly for residents as an active member of the Planning Committees at both district and town councils. He also sits on Uttlesford’s Public Engagement and Stansted Airport Advisory Panels.
He says he’s proud to have initiated the Uttlesford Youth Council which is now in its second year.
Paul is currently Mayor of Saffron Walden with the theme of “working together” and holds a monthly “Tea with the Mayor” to chat with and listen to residents. He recently launched a local charter to reduce the use of single use plastic in business, and throughout his Mayoral year has put on exciting events which brought the community together such as the Royal Wedding celebration, the community picnic and the free music concert.
