An interesting article Jennifer. Thanks. We’ve heard similar stories about many of the larger developments in Uttlesford by large national building companies. The current UDC administration has been saying that they may hand over the role of ‘master developer’ of new towns to these companies. It seems that many of them can’t build quality homes, let alone communities. We have a different approach which is that any new towns should be steered by community led local Development Corporations. You can find out more here: https://www.residents4u.org/2017/11/14/4-ways-to-put-uttlesford-residents-in-the-driving-seat-of-new-settlements/

Interesting article on BBC website re new builds. I'm wondering how closely Uttlesford (truly) manages the quality of proposed building. It looks as if, statistically, there could be a large number of problems in a town-sized project.
