They will either have to go up Rowntree Way or along a bendy route through town, past the RAB Leisure Centre. Am surprised no-one else seems to have spotted this. Not surprised at ECC not noticing though…

When decisions made about local road planning we should have local representation from local shops ambulance police and fire and rescue services and locals who use the roads.
Other countries are doing way with traffic lights as the they add to pollution and the cost of keeping them serviced and have been proved to cause more traffic congestion.

Unfortunately she’s shown so far that she is part of the system. As an identified party rising star she was parachuted in to a safe seat. She is rarely here and her family still lives in London. On every issue she has sided with her Tory party police commissioner, county and district councillors. All she would likely to say would be “these are council issues, I can’t get involved.” If we keep electing one party to all levels of government, we’ll just get the same result – a stitch up.

Michael – ECC announcement was via an email they sent to Saffron Walden Town Council. All is said was that they wanted feedback and attached the drawing that we have linked on the page above. Being so close to the UDC council office entrance, I wonder whether the “bottom of Borough Lane” traffic light scheme will improve access and egress for those who work and visit there? Or make it worse?

UDC & ECC have have said they are doing it. They are not planning any public consultation. After Saffron Walden Town Council opposed the yellow lines, they have now changed their process to prevent Saffron Walden Town Council from having any veto on what they do to the roads. All you can do is directly lobby UDC Leader Howard Role (he has been pushing the scheme since his head of planning left 2 years ago) and Essex Councillor John Moran.
