As part of its eco-agenda, R4U’s administration at Uttlesford District Council (UDC) has secured over £1million in grant funding to retrofit energy efficiencies to the homes of lower income Uttlesford families.
Louise Pepper (R4U)Cllr Pepper continued “Uttlesford homeowners and tenants, in private or social rented accommodation, with a household income of below £30,000, can apply for a grant. The programme offers a wide range of energy reducing measures including insulation, air source, ground source and hybrid heat pumps. Domestic energy is our second largest CO2 emitter, so this programme is important. We strongly encourage residents to apply. R4U’s Cllr Louise Pepper concluded “With the climate predicted to worsen, it’s vital we adapt now; and improving the energy efficiency of the homes of those who are struggling to pay bills and stay warm is a win-win initiative. In addition to these new grants, our existing £1million eco-agenda programme at UDC continues to be delivered. It is bringing new EV charging points, tree planting and rewilding, on-street recycling bins, solar and biodiesel council vehicles, and much more to our communities. We’re excited to continue to deliver on our existing manifesto pledges, and now to do much more to improve the energy performance of Uttlesford homes.”
